Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina
Jolie Voight, (born on the 4th of June, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, U.S.),
American actor and director, well-known for her sexual edginess and sex appeal
as well as for her charitable work. Her part in Girl, Interrupted (1999) was
one of the roles she received for the Academy Award. Jolie, the daughter of
actor Jon Voight, spent most of her early life in New York. She moved to Los
Angeles when she was 11. After two years at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film
Institute, she enrolled at Beverly Hills High School. New York University later
taught her drama. Alongside acting in theatre productions, she performed as a
model and in music videos.Jolie's first big movie role was in Hackers (1995)
which was the filming process, she became engaged to her first husband British
actor Jonny Lee Miller (married 1996; divorced 1999). It was not well-received,
like a variety of other films. In 1997, however Jolie gained a lot of notice
for her performance as the wife of Alabama's segregationist governor the
television film George Wallace, and she later was awarded a Golden Globe Award
for her performance. Jolie played the supermodel struggling with drug addiction
in the HBO movie Gia in 1999. This role earned her numerous honours including
an award of the Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild Award. Following her
Oscar-winning performance in Girl, Interrupted, Jolie was in Pushing Tin, a
comedy with John Cusack, Billy Bob Thornton, and in 2003 she was divorced. In
Gone in Sixty Seconds ((2000)) Jolie played Nicole Cage's lover. Later, she
switched to an accent that resembled a British accent, and mastered combat
sports and kickboxing to play the title roles in Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2003)
and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Cradle of Life (2004). She played the role of
Alexander's mother in Oliver Stone's Alexander (2004) and also appeared
alongside Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow in Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow
(a sci-fi thriller set 1930s New York City). Both films failed at box office,
however Jolie had a great time in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). She played a
woman who pretended to be an assassin. While working on the film she met Brad
Pitt who became her co-star.
